Other news that caught my attention were the news of Oscar Pistorious. On Thursday, 14th February which is dubbed as the day of love I woke up to sad reports that Pistorious allegedly shot his girlfriend thinking she was an intruder.
Reeva Steenkamp who graced the covers of various magazine and believed to have been Oscar's girlfriend was reported to have been shot at Pistorious' home in Pretoria and the paramedics declared her dead on arrival.
The 'blade-runner' was taken in for questioning yesterday pending further investigation on the matter.
A well-known brand which Pistorious was an ambassador for has reported to have stripped him of his ambassadorship and they have removed all adverts containing him on their site.
Twitter was active yesterday as celebrities and fans took to the social network to express their heartfelt condolences.
Moving to political issues, South African president - Jacob Zuma took the stand on Thursday to deliver the state of the nation address. Zuma was reporting on the progress made since the last state of the nation address and action that will be taken this year.
The president made some valid points and there's been major improvements. He also mentioned the building of two new Universities in Northern Cape and Mpumalanga.
